International CPD

Is CPD recognised internationally?

Short answer

CPD is an internationally understood concept, but recognition is decided by the receiving professional body, not by the accreditor. Independently accredited activity with a verifiable number and a stated hours value transfers most easily, because the receiving body can confirm it without contacting the provider.

Practitioners relocating should ask the destination regulator two questions before assuming their record transfers: does it accept CPD completed abroad, and does it convert hours to its own unit at parity. Answers vary widely, even between neighbouring jurisdictions.

Keep the underlying evidence rather than only a summary total. A record of individual activities with numbers, hours and dates can be mapped onto almost any system; a bare annual figure cannot.
