Is CPD accreditation the same as a qualification?
Short answer
No. A qualification is awarded by an awarding organisation, usually sits on a national qualifications framework, and certifies a level of attainment. CPD accreditation is an independent quality mark applied to a learning activity. The two are complementary: qualifications establish entry to a profession, CPD evidences development within it.
The distinction matters when reading marketing copy. A course described as "accredited" has had its quality assessed; it has not thereby become a diploma, degree or regulated qualification, and any provider implying otherwise is overstating what accreditation confers.
Accredo accredits CPD activities and the organisations that deliver them. It does not award qualifications and does not sit on a national qualifications framework — a boundary we state plainly because the confusion is common and commercially convenient to leave uncorrected.
