How can I tell if a CPD accreditation is genuine?
Short answer
Check three things: does the seal carry a unique accreditation number, does that number appear on the accreditor's public register, and does the accreditor publish its standard. A seal with no number, no searchable register, or a body that will not say what it assesses should not be relied on.
Common warning signs include accreditation granted instantly on payment with no review; a body that accredits an unlimited number of courses under one annual fee; certificates claiming the activity is a "qualification"; and register pages that require the provider to confirm a listing rather than being publicly searchable.
If you believe an Accredo mark is being displayed without a valid accreditation, report it with the activity name, where you saw it and any number shown. Every report is investigated.
