What happens in a CPD audit?

In a CPD audit your professional body asks you to submit your record for a given cycle, usually with supporting certificates. Reviewers check that the hours meet the requirement, that the required share is structured, that evidence exists for each entry, and that reflections show impact on practice.
Most bodies audit a random sample of registrants each year, so being selected implies nothing about your standing. The process is normally administrative and resolved by return of the record.
Where a record falls short, outcomes range from a request for further evidence, through a development plan with a deadline, to conditions on registration in persistent cases. The overwhelming majority of shortfalls are evidential rather than substantive — the learning happened, but nothing was written down at the time.
