What is an accredited CPD provider?

Short answer

An accredited CPD provider is an organisation whose credentials, subject expertise and learning design processes have been independently assessed and listed on a public register. Provider status is the gateway to submitting individual activities — it does not, by itself, accredit everything the organisation produces.

This distinction is where most confusion in the CPD market lives. A provider badge says the organisation was checked. An activity accreditation says this course was checked. Marketing that implies the first covers the second is misleading, and it is worth reading claims closely.

On the Accredo register, both are visible and separately numbered, so a learner can see whether the specific course they are considering has itself been assessed.
